Dyaneshwar Mulay (serving MEA
Secretary); Prabhakar Deshmukh (Retd IAS), and Gulabrao Pol (Retd IPS), former
Pune Police Commissioner, are expected to make a political debut in the
upcoming Lok Sabha (April-May 2019) and Maharashtra Assembly Elections (Sept
2019). Reportedly, Mule may contest the
Lok Sabha seat from the Hatkanangale constituency in Kolhapur on a BJP ticket
and may announce his decision immediately after his retirement on 31 December
2018. It may be mentioned that Mulay,
in April 2018, had his book released by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. In the past
six to eight months, Mulay made multiple visits to Pune and other towns in
western Maharashtra. Former Maharashtra cadre IAS
officer Prabhakar Deshmukh is keen to contest the election from Madha Lok Sabha
constituency on a NCP ticket which was won by NCP chief Sharad Pawar in the
2009 polls. Deshmukh served as Agriculture Commissioner and Pune Divisional
Commissioner. Similarly, Gulabrao Pol had
sought a ticket from the Congress and the NCP in 2014 but was denied. He
reportedly still aspires to secure a ticket to contest the 2019 LS poll from
the Kolhapur constituency.
