A four-member selection committee is reportedly conducting interviews, on Tuesday, for the post of Director General, Standing Conference on Public Enterprise (SCOPE). The post was advertised on 28 August 2018. Reportedly, 40 candidates had applied, of which 21 were shortlisted for the interview. The selected candidate would replace Dr. U D Choubey completing his tenure in June this year.

Indianmandarins has reliably learned that the selection committee may pick Ved Prakash (CMD, MMTC) for the post who is retiring on 31 March this year. If selected, Ved Prakash may have a tenure of five years as DG SCOPE.

It may be underlined that as Chairperson of the Executive Committee of SCOPE, Ved Prakash played a crucial role in constituting the selection committee which comprises of former PESB Chairman Atul Chaturvedi (Retd IAS:1974:UP), Padma Bhushan Moosa Raza (former Chairman SCOPE & former Union Secretary), Ms Stuti Narain Kacker (Retd IAS:1978:UP) and Arvind Pande (former Chairman SAIL). If some well placed sources are to be believed Ms Kacker may not join the selection committee.

The DG post was advertised on 28 August though the date of vacancy was not disclosed which had triggered controversy over the internal affairs of SCOPE management.
