Ahead of a re-scheduled selection interview for SBI Chairman post two mutually differing views and possibilities have cropped up. The first view suggests that for the top job four MDs are expected to be interviewed on 28 August  namely; D K Khara, C S Shetty, Ashwani Bhatia, and Arijit Basu.

The second view suggests that an extension (on re-appointment basis) is not ruled out for the outgoing Chairman Rajnish Kumar completing his term on 7 October 2020. Contrary to previous media reports Indianmandarins has learned that Rajnish Kumar has not been asked by the Govt to appear for an interview for the same position.  

Further, among the four aspirants, C S Shetty has the longest four years terms in service whereas Dinesh Kumar Khara has only one year in hand to retire.

Those in the know of the affairs believe that Khara has chances based on his competence and credentials but the other three have edge over Khara for competence, credentials, and a strong backing.
