sanction-granted-for-prosecution-of-two-ias-officers-updated-0140-pm  The Centre has allowed the CBI to prosecute two senior IAS officers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments L V Subrahmanyam (IAS:1983:AP) and Bibhu Prasad Acharya (IAS:1983:TL) respectively under the Prevention of Corruption Act for their alleged role in irregularities in the development of Emaar township project in Hyderabad. Both of them were vice-chairmen and managing directors of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and have figured as accused in the case filed by the CBI. Acharya was also arrested and sent to jail in 2012 . He was facing trial on criminal charges under Indian Penal Code but the approval of the Centre under the PCA to try him for corruption charges was pending. The State government had not given its consent to CBI to proceed against Subrahmaniam as his role was not established. But the Centre has now acceded to the request of CBI, sources said.
