Indianmandarins has learnt that Shivanand Jha (IPS:1980:GJ) may be posted as a DG in Govt of India on central deputation. Having completed three years of service, Jha is expected to get some important DG rank post at the Centre. It may be underlined that, currently, two DG rank posts are vacant in BPR&D and NHRC(Investigation) at Centre. There are indications that the MHA may opt for a reshuffle in DG rank officers to make room for officers like Jha. Further, in the aftermath of Gujarat Govt's verbal assurance to the Gujarat High Court on October 10, the state government has reportedly decided to regularise Geetha Johri, currently DGP in-charge, who is scheduled to retire on November 30 this year. It may be noted that the Gujarat HC had directed the state to file an affidavit by November 01 in this regard. Keeping in view the Assembly elections in the state, she may be given an extension in service. The state DGP post has been vacant since April 15, 2016 after P C Thakur sought VRS following his appointment as DG, Fire Service & Civil Defence in Govt of India. He was replaced by P P Pandey as in-charge DGP. After Pandey resigned in April 2017 following a petition in the Supreme Court, the state government appointed Ms. Johari as DGP in-charge.
