Gyanendra Badgaiyan (ex-IAS:1991:UT cadre) may be appointed as the new CEO of indiatech.org at a fabulous eight-figure salary. It's a new lobbying organization for domestic e-commerce companies like Flipkart, Ola, MakeMyTrip, Quikr, etc which are said to be facing a host of problems, let alone competition from global giants like Amazon indiatech.org has been shaping up for over a year now. Its chief argument is that if home-grown internet firms do not succeed, India may likely lose $10 billion of FDI per year, $1 billion of tax revenues per year and 1 million jobs that could have been created based on numbers extrapolated from China. Earlier, Badgaiyan served as the Director of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. He was also briefly PS to Ms.Priyanka Gandhi but was unceremoniously sacked following differences over several issues. He is regarded as a brilliant officer with a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Princeton. He is said to have also studied at Cambridge and Delhi School. He has taught at several prestigious institutions and has been the Director General of National Centre for Good Governance, GOI, for the last one year where he has been handling process improvements inside the government. Before NCGG, Badgaiyan was chief economist at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and a research fellow at the UN University. He served as an IAS officer from 1991 to 2013 in various policy and field-level positions.
