rank-of-officers-boycotting-two-leading-publications-swelling-by-day What began as a trickle has turned into a gushing stream: thousand of Civil Servants have joined the list of officers who set the precedent of unsubscribing two national publications for continuously describing professional civil servants as 'babus' in a derisive way. And the number of officers unsubscribing these two publications is swelling by day, following the publication of an exclusive reports in this regard. It won't be a surprise if these two publications in a short time may lose their entire premium readership consisting of these officers. Indianmandarins has learnt that it's not only the IAS, IRS and allied services that are boycotting these publications, but also the the central secretariat service officers as they feel equally pained by the use of deliberately used term 'Babus'. It's learnt that officers are also confabulating among themselves about denying premium off-record briefings to news representatives of these two organisations. Whenever that happens, the two publications, after initial hysteria born out of damaged vanity, would be constrained to learn the art of civil discourse, said an officer who didn't wish to be named. Further, insiders from these two publications has informed Indianmandarins that one of these publications has prepared a list of 331 officers who publicly announced on the social media that they were forthwith unsubscribing these two publications. The purpose of compiling the list could be 'vicious' or just informative. The problem with compiling such a list is that it can't ever be comprehensive, because most of the officers have unsubscribed these two publications without any announcement on the social media. And it's very difficult to identify them.
