Rajya Sabha Secretary-General: Dr. Ramacharyulu the first cadre officer to rise to the top post in 70 years

2828New Delhi (31.08.2021): Bringing with him over 40 years of experience Dr. Parasaram Pattabhi Kesava Ramacharyulu finally becomes the first Rajya Sabha cadre officer to rise to the top post in 70 years since the Rajya Sabha came into being in 1952. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu appointed Dr. Ramacharyulu, working as Secretary in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat since 2018, to the highest office today. He succeeds Desh Deepak Verma, a retired 1978 batch UP cadre IAS, who demitted office as SG today after serving for four years. He has a wide experience of handling various aspects of the functioning of the Parliament. He joined the RS Secretariat in 1983 after serving in the Lok Sabha Secretariat for a year earlier.
