Jaipur (24.06.2025): The Rajasthan government has initiated the process to appoint a new Director General of Police of the state. Reportedly, a panel comprising seven senior IPS officers have been forwarded to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). A final decision on the new DGP is expected by June 30, 2025.

As per the panel the prospective successors are; Rajeev Kumar Sharma (IPS: 1990), Sanjay Agarwal (IPS: 1992), Anil Paliwal (IPS: 1994), Rajesh Arya (IPS: 1994), Rajesh Nirwan (IPS: 1992), Govind Gupta (IPS: 1993), and Anand Srivastava (IPS: 1994).

The UPSC will now shortlist three names from this list based on seniority and other parameters and forward them to the Rajasthan government for its final call.

Dr Ravi Prakash Meharda (IPS: 1990: RJ) who was appointed interim DGP of Rajasthan on June 10, 2025 after Utkal Ranjan Sahu (IPS: 1988: RJ) made Chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). Meharda is retiring on June 30, 2025.
