meet, considered to be one of largest congregation of scientists anywhere in
the world, might have undermined his image and sent out a rather negative
signal about his political maturity. His absence from the inauguration
of the 106th Indian Science Congress at the Lovely Professional University at
Phagwara by Prime Minister Narendra Modi might be seen and is indeed seen, as
his reluctance to attend a prestigious function in his own state if his
opponents happen to be there. Capt. Singh may seem to be taking
his personal preferences and aversions too far. Of course, his Minister for
Industries and Commerce Sunder Sham Arora attended the inauguration, but this
is neither an excuse nor an explanation from his absence from the
function.
