If some credible buzz are any guide the prospective candidates are; Atul Sobti (Director, Power) BHEL; Kulamani Biswal (Director, Finance) NTPC and Rajeev Sharma (CMD, REC). 'Indianmandarins' has learnt that these three candidates are being considered as most heavy-weight and prospective candidates for the post. The post (CMD, BHEL) was advertised in post of CMD in the first week of February this year. The incumbent CMD, B Prasad Rao, is now expected to continue till December 31, 2015. The entire public sector is keenly waiting to see who will take the baton from B P rao as the chief of BHEL, 'The Maharatna'. After Modi government took the driving seat in May 2014 both the process went simultaneously; firstly, the re-examination of extension (beyond superannuation) to B Prasad Rao as CMD, BHEL and secondly the revalidation of PESB's recommendation of Prakash Chand for the post of CMD, BHEL.
