President of India cleared the appointment of five governors for the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Meghalaya and Tamil Nadu. Lt Governor for Andaman and Nicobar Islands was also appointed. Brigadier (Retd) B D Mishra appointed as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Satya Pal Malik as the Governor of Bihar, Banwarilal Purohit as the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Jagdish Mukhi as the Governor of Assam and Ganga Prasad appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya. Jagdish Mukhi has replaced Banwarilal Purohit as Assam Governor. Earlier Mukhi was the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar. Admiral (Retd) Devendra Kumar Joshi has succeded Mukhi as Lt. Governor of A&N. Former MLC (Bihar) Ganga Prasad was appointed as Meghalaya Governor. Banwarilal Purohit replaces C Vidyasagar Rao as the new Governor of TN. Rao, Maharashtra Governor, was holding the additional responsibility for Tamil Nadu. Former MP and BJP's National Vice President Satya Pal Malik was appointed as the Governor of Bihar. The post had fallen vacant after Mr Ram Nath Kovind Kovind was nominated as the BJP's presidential candidate.
