Indianmandarins has learnt that the government may elevate the post of Director General, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), to the secretary rank from Additional Secretary. Currently, the post is held by Atanu Chakraborty (IAS:1985:GJ) who is waiting his turn to be elevated as Secretary. He was recently empanelled to hold the Secretary rank post in Govt of India.
It is worth mentioning that after the empanelment of two batches of IAS (1984 & 1985) together as Secretary, the Govt may be facing difficulties to post a whole lot of officers as Secretaries.
