Unity of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was shown at
the dinner hosted Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah where out of 39
NDA constituents 36 turned up to express their solidarity with the ruling
alliance. But what is something unusual that the BJP seems to be giving more
prominence is that one of its lesser important ally in Bihar that is Lok
Janshakti Party led by Ram Vilas Paswan over Janata Dal (United). The JD (U)
contested similar numbers of seats in
2019 elections despite the fact that it had just two seats in the last Lok
Sabha. This is not the first occasion when NDA extended faith on
Paswan when he faced media along with Home minister Rajnath Singh. Paswan, who
is known to be a meteorological scientist in lighter vein for his accurate
forecast that which way the election results will go, was put into services to
spread words that as a pre-dominantly Dalit party it wants reservation for
upper caste poor people and a few days later reservation to upper caste poor
was announced. Paswan started working for the alliance way in advance so that
Dalits are placated and expected damage is minimized in view of anger of
community on many counts. It was Paswan again who was asked to salvage the damage from
the anger of community from the change in SC/ST Act by telling the community
that NDA is fully behind safeguarding interest of Dalits. Insiders in the BJP
say that this is part of a pre-meditated focus on Dalits as Muslims
organizations are trying to win them over against the BJP. The NDA feels that
it has been brought the damage to the naught. LJP is also paddling the narrative that rich SCs must give up
reservation benefits to help poor in the community like rich people gave up LPG
subsidy. Political observers sum up it like this that the BJP is always vary
about Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar so it must not be caught napping and be
ready with some alternative where services of Paswan will be solicited.
