Two official presentations on the issue were made before the committee - one by an MHA team led by designated Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and another by Chief Information Security Officer of India Gulshan Rai.
The deliberations brought to light the sad state of affairs, particularly in states, in matters of cyber security.
To deal with the increasing incidence of cyber crimes, one member suggested that a special department of cyber security be created on the pattern of US Department of Homeland Security.
