Chandigarh (20.02.2025): With Haryana Chief Secretary Vivek Joshi (IAS: 1989: HY) being appointed as one of the Election Commissioners of India barely three months after being appointed as Haryana CS, Anurag Rastogi (IAS: 1990: HY) has been appointed as the new CS of Haryana.
Names of Sumita Mishra (IAS: 1990: HY), Anurag Rastogi (IAS: 1990: HY) and Raja Sekhar Vundru (IAS: 1990: HY) were doing rounds for the same. Due to some seniority dispute among 1990-batch officers that arose after three officers — Ankur Gupta, Anurag Rastogi and Raja Sekhar Vundru — challenged the present gradation list claiming that Sudhir Rajpal (IAS: 1990: HY), the senior most as per this list and, Sumita Misra, placed above them. They claimed that these two should be lower in the pecking order since they were “outsiders” and had been transferred from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, respectively.
But Rastogi, Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), who served as CS for three days after TVSN Prasad's retirement on October 31, 2024 while Joshi was already appointed as the CS, emerged as the government choice for the coveted post.
