Lucknow (03.10.2024): Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh and Bundelkhand Loktantrik Party chief Sulkhan Singh (Retd IPS: 1980: UP) questioned police encounters in Uttar Pradesh saying that there are around 250 police personnel accused of fake encounter are lodging in jails.
He says that those involved in fake encounters for quick promotion and rewards will certainly go to jail and no one is going to come to their rescue when they are in trouble especially those who have ordered them for these fake encounters. Sulkhan Singh is widely known for his uprightness and credentials as one of the best civil servants. Singh  launched his political party for separate Bundelkhand. Does this indicate police reform or simply a political stunt as during his tenure as DGP, he too ordered teaching criminals in the language they understand which resulted in police encounter killings.
