New Delhi (23.12.2025):Saleem Ahmad on Tuesday assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Railways. He succeeds Pradeep Gaur, who retired on August 31, 2025.
Prior to the appointment at RVNL, Saleem Ahmad served as Director (Projects) at NBCC (India) Limited. He succeeds Sukhmal Chand Jain (IRSE: 1988), who had been holding the additional charge of the CMD post since September 1, 2025.
An industry veteran with over 35 years of experience in the construction and infrastructure sectors, Ahmad has a proven track record in executing large-scale urban transit and maritime projects. His previous leadership roles include Executive Director (Civil) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and key assignments with the Mumbai Port Trust.
Ahmad holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. RVNL serves as the specialized executing arm of the Ministry of Railways. The organization is responsible for a diverse portfolio of infrastructure works, including; new line development and doubling, gauge conversion and railway electrification, metro projects and major bridge construction including cable-stayed structures.
