Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi (IAS:1976:UP) is all set to become the new Chief Election Commissioner. He will succeed H S Brahma Mr. Zaidi, assumed charge as Election Commissioner of India on 07.08.2012. He brings with him a rich experience of working in regulatory framework both at national & international levels. He could be in Election Commission till July 6, 2017. He had earlier worked as Director-General of Civil Aviation, and was India's representative in the International Civil Aviation Organisation. He was also the Joint Secretary in the Civil Aviation ministry, Commissioner of Bareilly Development Authority and Collector of Ghaziabad and Farukkhabad districts in Uttar Pradesh. His first posting after becoming an IAS officer was as an Assistant Collector of Unnao district.
