Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that Telecom Commission (TC)may appoint as Member (Finance) Ms Anuradha Mitra (IP&TAFS:1982) who currently serves as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. The post of Member (Fin) at TC has been lying vacant for long and the additional charge is with Prahlad Singh, Adviser (Finance). Reportedly, the ACC may clear her name any time this week. The TC was established through the decision of the Cabinet on 25 January, 1989. It deliberates issues related to the policy changes, allocation and management of spectrum for commercial use, among others. At present, TC, headed by Secretary of the DoT, is constituted of nine members, including secretaries from different ministries like DoT, Finance Ministry, Dept of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Dept of IT and the Niti Aayog. T C is chaired by DoT secretary.
