After its promise of doubling farmers’ income by 2022, the NaMo Govt has interestingly coined another title ‘Destination India’; an initiative targeting admission of over 2 lakh foreign students by 2022 in courses like Yoga and Ayurveda. By projecting India as a hub of education and culture, the country might attract foreign exchange. But this will hardly help it becoming a $5 trillion economy looking at other parametres. However, short-term courses in Yoga, Buddhism and Ayurveda might attract foreign students even from countries like the US and UK. Ministries and departments like HRD, MHA, Health, Aayush, MEA and ICCR are getting convergent to evolve the mechanism to ensure PM’s mission 2022.
