MODI INITIATIVE

Congress goes more aggressive against Modi; govt remains unfazed

Congress is constantly putting pressure on the Modi government whether it is on ramping up testing or Rs 1 lakh crore package for MSME sector or asking some measures for migrant labourers or accusing a scam in rapid test kits. But the government is working in its own way unfazed with suggestions and criticism. Moreover, people appear to be in no mood to pay attention, despite more aggression shown by the Congress.

Now former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has come up with allegations of a scam in the supply of rapid test kits to the government to detect coronavirus cases saying it was unbelievable that people were indulging in profiteering from suffering people. Gandhi requested the PM to take immediate action to bring the culprits to book.

Gandhi tweeted: “That any human being would try and profiteer from the immeasurable suffering of millions of his brothers and sisters is beyond belief and comprehension. This scam is an insult to every Indian. I urge the PM to act swiftly to bring the corrupt to justice.”

Earlier he requested the PM to clear ‘bottlenecks’ and ramp up coronavirus testing in the country holding the PM responsible for this delay in the same breath. He said: "Random testing is the key to beating the virus".

India has to scale up COVID-19 testing from present 40,000 to one lakh per day. Experts agree that mass random testing is the key to beating Corona. In India, a bottleneck is stopping us from scaling testing from the current 40,000 per day to 1 lakh tests a day, for which test kits are already available.

Sonia Gandhi demanded a special package for the MSME industry with former Union defence minister A K Antony and former Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal having their own sets of demands from the government. This could be a good tactic on part of the Congress to keep the government on toes.

New ordinance: Modi’s masterstroke?

Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi has approved an Ordinance in which allowances and pension of all MPs will be reduced by 30% for a year. MPLAD fund too has been temporarily suspended for two years which would now go to the Consolidated Fund of India in the fight against coronavirus.

Following the decision Union Home Minister Amit Shah also thanked President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Governors for voluntarily deciding not to take 30 percent of their allowances for one year.

If one goes by the reactions of a large section (including social media) of the society Union Cabinet’s decision is being seen as Modi’s master-stroke. The decision once again catapult his popularity among the masses. Probably the decision also decodes Modi’s intent to meet former Presidents, PMs and some other leaders including CMs.

At one end it is being seen as if Parliament of the world's largest democracy stands together in these challenging times. But on the other end a large section of taxpayers and the public is welcoming the move for reasons in public life. There are also who believe that most of the funds were either improperly utilized or remained unutilized. There is a section that might say it will impact development in the far off areas.

PM meets 18 Lok Sabha MPs individually: Larger significance?

By IndianMandarins 06 Mar 2020

Has PM Narendra Modi taken matters related to West Bengal Assembly elections in his own hands? Meeting all 18 Lok Sabha MPs from the state individually appears a signal of sort. Political experts say that this is an attempt of giving a clear message that the BJP would contest Assembly elections of West Bengal with its full strength to change the government?

In one of the meetings with MPs of the state, the PM told one of them that winning West Bengal Assembly election is not like any other Assembly election rather it is important for the nation. Union Home minister Amit Shah will be spending two-three days every month in West Bengal. He has already started addressing pro-CAA rallies and PM is also having various programs in the state.

Sources said that for Sangh Pariwar having control over bordering state with huge infiltration coming in is of paramount importance. After winning Assam BJP aims at West Bengal where allegedly huge number of infiltrators have settled and incumbent Mamata Banerjee not taking any remedial measure to check the phenomena.

Reportedly, the PM is asking MPs about the aspiration of people, organisational requirement and governmental assistance. The new team under J P Nadda will have a representative from West Bengal besides the possibility of one more induction in the council of minister if reshuffle or expansion happens. But PM monitoring the situation will keep others on toes.

PM’s Social media plans: Something bigger than what is thought about?

By IndianMandarins 04 Mar 2020

Elements of surprise, unpredictability and out of box initiative have been the hallmark of the Modi dispensation so has been the recent case when PM Narendra Modi tweeted leaving all social media platforms. However every such surprise has never been without any purpose and well thought out decision.

Several theories are doing round over PM’s surprising tweet. A couple of such speculation is that PM wants to tell social media platforms that the Indian government can keep them aside if they continue supporting selective outrage against it as this will have a definite impact on these social media platforms with PM having following of over 4.5 crore on just twitter.

Another speculation is that the government may come out with its own such platforms with more and more Indianess into it. The way China is using its own social media platform, India too can do it with 130 billion population to safeguard its true democratic values, sovereign character, culture and secular credentials. The government is for sure very serious about false propaganda unleashed against it. It has reports about posts talking good about the government being dumped and factually incorrect propaganda against it being pushed.

However, all these are speculations except the fact that the government has started sending rejoinders to foreign media as yesterday, ministry of information and broadcasting sent such a rejoinder to a foreign media house. This will go on till they start following the norms and journalistic ethics. Sources said that modus operandi of international media is that they come with a prepared story and just look for a quote that suits their agenda. The government wants to expose such plans.

But the real reason of the PM going out of social media will come from him only but for that everyone will have to wait but everyone is free to keep guessing also.

Mission 2022 gains momentum with ‘Destination India’ slogan

By IndianMandarins 13 Feb 2020

After its promise of doubling farmers’ income by 2022, the NaMo Govt has interestingly coined another title ‘Destination India’; an initiative targeting admission of over 2 lakh foreign students by 2022 in courses like Yoga and Ayurveda. By projecting India as a hub of education and culture, the country might attract foreign exchange. But this will hardly help it becoming a $5 trillion economy looking at other parametres. However, short-term courses in Yoga, Buddhism and Ayurveda might attract foreign students even from countries like the US and UK. Ministries and departments like HRD, MHA, Health, Aayush, MEA and ICCR are getting convergent to evolve the mechanism to ensure PM’s mission 2022.

Maharashtra mayhem: Is the BJP hitting three birds from one stone?

By IndianMandarins 17 Nov 2019

The top leadership of the BJP – PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah – is full time politicians unlike the opposition that wakes up from the slumber when crisis crops up. What could be the next move of the opposition, the BJP leadership plans its answer well in advance and in one such scheme Shiv Sena -- the former ally of the BJP is trapped.

They might be able to install their CM in Maharashtra but the party might become a history in the politics of Maharashtra. The public perception in the state is suggesting so. It is known to everyone that public perception has been key to the success of the BJP from long. Right from the very moment when SS started demanding chief minister’s post not only social media was abuzz but started working in subtle way but in later phases they are openly accusing the Shiv Sena for harming the Hindutva ideology. Similarly the Congress will be harmed for aligning with the SS. If the SS and Congress are sorted out things would be easy for the BJP in the state.

So much so that even Marathies are going against the Shiv Sena that has predominantly a Marathi identity and the community being their core vote bank. An activist working in Navi Mumbai Netra Daoo said that the Shiv Sena is harming the very ideology that was groomed by Bala Saheb Thackrey. Can they tell people of Maharashtra, how would they deal with contradictions of the ideology of Shiv Sena and the Congress.

The BJP leadership is cashing in on very well on the development which apparently seems to be in the spree of marganalising its allies so they follow their dictate. So the SS is stuck in the trap laid by the BJP. “If the Shiv Sena thinks it can revolt and get the people’s sympathy, they really don’t know the public,” said BJP Party President Amit Shah, who understands people’s pulse very well.

The BJP works on the slogan of its incumbent PM that turn adversity into opportunity and his lieutenant Shah is very well executing his plans. If the alliance government of the Congress, the NCP and Shiv Sena is formed, it will collapse out of its own contradictions. This is what the BJP wants as after that the maneuvering of the BJP not only of parties, leaders but people will start.

Daoo said that people especially their voters are so angry with them that the next election is going to very dear for them as they will find it impossible to justify their decision and all such people will fall for the BJP as mid-term election is not ruled out. Even the BJP would not shy away from it. But lot more development is yet to unfold
