In a minor reshuffle, the West Bengal government-headed by Mamata Banerjee on Monday evening transferred Police Commissioner of Howrah Devendra Prakash Singh to Midnapore as DIG, while Bastab Baidya, a 2001-batch IPS officer who served as DIG Midnapore has now been appointed as Murshidabad's Deputy Inspector General of Police.
Besides, Tanmay Ray Chaudhari, a 2002-batch IPS officer who was working as the Deputy Director in the Directorate of Economic Offences, has been now appointed as Police Commissioner of Howrah. He will also hold additional charge of DIG Howrah (rural).
Bharat Lal Meena, a 2002-batch IPS officer who was DIG, Presidency Range, has been now transferred to Siliguri as the Commissioner of Police in the same rank as the DIG. Sunil Choudhary, a 2004-batch IPS officer who was the Police Commissioner of Siliguri, has now been made DIG Presidency with immediate effect.
Similarly, Pranab Kumar, a 2003-batch IPS officer who was DIG rank official in Murshidabad, has now been shifted to CID in the same rank. On the other hand, Subrata Kumar Mitra who was IGP Burdwan Range, has been now asked to take additional charge (supervise) Hooghly (rural) in addition to Purba Burdwan and Birbhum districts.
