The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) is said to have ignored two reminders from the Department of Heavy Industries (DHI) to advertise and invite applications for Director-level vacancies that may arise in the BHEL. One immediate vacancy will arise after Atul Sobti (currently Director-Power) takes over the responsibility of CMD from January 1, 2016.
Insiders say that perhaps PESB would have been advised by some quarters in the government to go slow on the reminders of DHI. It has fueled rumors that there may some considered plan to delegate the responsibility of Power to a serving Director else Sobti would have to handle Power even after becoming CMD on January 01, 2016.
