New Delhi (27.02.2022): The parliamentary committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs is unhappy with states who are unable to bifurcate the task of law and order from crime investigation. The MHA body wants separate officers for maintaining law and order and conduct proper investigation of serious cases. Several states have already followed this order. The Delhi police commissioner Rakesh Asthana has effectively implemented this order in Delhi and reported it to the Lt Governor Anil Baijal. So far, Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh have bifurcated the task of general law and order and crime investigation. Now the MHA body is concerned why a few states are lagging behind in implementing this order. In a meeting held recenty, the MHA body said that this delay leads to low conviction rate of hard core criminals. Now the MHA body has shown displeasure and wants all the states to implement it immediately.
