'Indianmandarins' has reliably learnt that Ajoy G Mehta (IAS:MH:1984) withdraws his candidature for Chairman, NHAI. He was one among the 43 applicants short-listed for the selection process. Mehta has recently succeeded Sitaram Kunte (IAS:MH:1985) as BMC Commissioner. The news has its own important also because after the downgrading of post of NHAI Chairman Mehta would have certainly been the most prospective candidate for reasons known to those who knows the GoI affairs well. Indianmandarins had reported on March 23 that the post could be downgraded to the rank of Additional Secretary which might further finish the prospects of many short-listed senior most bureaucrats namely; Dr Sudhir Krishna (Rtd IAS:KN:1977), P K Deb (Rtd IAS:RJ:1977), A K Jain (Rtd IAS:NL:1977), G S Sandhu (IAS:1980:RJ), Vishwapati Trivedi (Rtd IAS:MP:1977), Prem Narain (Rtd IAS:UP:1978), Ravinder Singh (IAS:UP:1979), Vimal Julka (IAS:MP:1979), Ajit M Sharan (IAS:HY:1979), Rohit Modi (Rtd IAS:MT:1984), the CEO of Suzlon.
