MEA: Jaideep Mazumdar appointed Secretary (East), Pawan Kapoor Secretary (West)

New Delhi (03.02.2024): The New Delhi establishment on Saturday announced the appointment of seasoned diplomats Jaideep Mazumdar (IFS: 1989) as Secretary (East) and Pavan Kapoor (IFS: 1990) as Secretary (West) respectively in the Ministry of External Affairs. Currently, Jaideep Mazumdar is Ambassador/Permanent Representative, Embassy of India in Vienna and Pavan Kapoor is Indian Ambassador in Moscow. Abhay Thakur (IFS: 1992) will be India's next ambassador to Russia.Mazumdar replaces Saurabh Kumar whereas Pavan Kapoor replaces Sanjay Verma who has been appointed as a Member, UPSC.
