Kolkata (29.12.21): Manoj Malaviya (IPS:1986:WB) has been appointed as DGP West Bengal for two years. Malaviya had been officiating as the acting DGP since September 1, 2021. The Centre’s nod reached on December 27, 2021. The West Bengal governor formally issued the appointment on December 28, 2021. Malaviya’s tenure will last till December 2023. Malaviya is the senior-most IPS officer in Bengal. He is the great-grandson of freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya.
