New Delhi (27.02.2024): Even two months after the ACC cleared the appointment of 18 Judicial Members and 22 Accountant Members in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), they are waiting for the Ministry of Law & Justice to issue formal orders for joining.
Sources say that most of the members awaiting formal orders from the respective ministry compare their position with that of NCLT, CESAT and CAT members who received such formal orders within two weeks of ACC notification issued in November 2023 but ITAT members appear clueless about their fate.
Though many of them believe that notification of 40 senior most officials await appointment letter which may take some time but such inordinate delay draws attention of all and sundry.
