it-department-launches-new-tax-module To make the process of tax filing simpler and easier, the Income Tax Dept (CBDT) on 10 July launched the Tax Payer Services Module and "Aaykar Setu Mobile App". The new system compiles various tax tools, live chat facility, dynamic updates, and important links to various processes within Income Tax Department in a single module. Further, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley launched at a function in New Delhi a new Income Taxpayer e-service module called "Aaykar Setu." CBDT Chairman Sushil Chandra welcomed the participants and a Vote of Thanks was given by Ms. Neena Kumar, Principal DG (Admin & TPS) CBDT. Revenue Secretary Dr. Hasmukh Adhia (IAS:1981:GJ) addressed the launch program after the presentation of the Module by Ms. Meenakshi Singh, Additional DG (TPS) CBDT. Speaking at the function, Jaitley underlined that the new application will reduce the physical interface between assessees and the tax assessing authorities which, in turn, would help in reducing tax harassment of assessees among others. Through the new module, IT Department aims to communicate directly with taxpayers providing tax information and tax services at their fingertips. The IT Department said all taxpayers who wish to receive SMS alerts are advised to register their mobile numbers in Aaykar Setu module. Taxpayers will also be able to receive regular updates regarding important tax dates, forms, and notifications on mobile numbers registered with the department.
