Sanchar Bhawan is said to be jinxed. For a long time whoever occupied the chair of the minister of communications has invariably got into some kind of problems. Starting with Pandit Sukhram, the list of cursed people includes Pramod Mahajan, Beni Prasad Verma, Ram Vilas Paswan and A Raja. The ministry was rocked by 2G scandals during the UPA regime. In the NaMo administration, Ravi Shankar Prasad did not last longer there. After Prasad's departure, minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha was given the additional responsibility of running Sanchar Bhawan.
For Sinha, too, the ministry has not been propitious. Soon after taking up the responsibility as communications minister, he ran into a car accident and broke his arm. Insiders say that Sinha has come to believe that he lost the race for UP CM because of his jinxed communication ministry. Indeed he had stopped sitting at Sanchar Bhawan after he fractured his arm on 24 December 2016 in the road accident while on the way from Barabanki to Gorakhpur. Instead, to handle the ministry's works, he started sitting at 'Dak Bhawan', located adjacent to Sanchar Bhawan.
Let's see how the destiny pans out for him. In case, he is elevated to cabinet rank without a change in portfolio he would continue to face the perplexed situation. Certainly he must be hoping an elevation with a new portfolio in future.
