Power corridors are again abuzz with speculations about Raksha Mantri Manohar Parrikar returning to Goa if the BJP wins the state elections. These speculations were triggered by BJP President Amit Shah making no bones about the return of Parrikar at an election rally. " We will decide after the election where Parrikarji will work. But people of Goa must vote keeping in mind that the state government will have his guidance," Shah told a public rally at Vasco. It may just be a ploy to win votes in the name of the Raksha Mantri who continues to enjoy unprecedented support and affection of all sections of Goan people. May it be noted that Shah's statement followed a similar statement given by Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
However, the Armed Forces are not inclined to let go the Minister, who has earned their respect by tirelessly addressing their key issues of defense modernisation and welfare of personnel. Even NaMo may find it difficult to find his replacement in the defense ministry.
