Patna (15.10.2025): Finally, Assam-Manipur cadre Indian Police
Service officer Anand Mishra (Retd IPS: 2011: AM), who took VRS before
2024 Lok Sabha elections, has been fielded from Buxar Assembly constituency. Anand Mishra had taken voluntary retirement
(VRS) and unsuccessfully contested the last Lok Sabha
elections as an independent candidate but joined the Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) on August 20, 2025. Mishra was inducted into the
party in the presence of state BJP president Dilip Jaiswal and Deputy
Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. After taking voluntary retirement, he had sought a BJP
ticket to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Buxar, but
the party denied him a ticket. He later claimed that Assam chief
minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assured him of ticket. Subsequently, he
contested as an independent candidate but failed to make a mark. He later
briefly associated with political strategist Prashant Kishor's Jan
Suraaj Party. With Mishra being fielded from Buxar, two bureaucrats have
been fielded by the BJP in Bihar Assembly elections so far. The first being
Sujit Kumar (IRS IT: 2001) from Gaura Bauram Assembly constituency.
