New Delhi (20.07.2022): Following the appointment of Tapan Kumar Deka (IPS:1988:HP) as Director of the Intelligence Bureau last month three of the four top IB officers chose to move out. Amitabh Ranjan (IPS:1988:TR) and Manoj Kumar Lal (IPS:1988:UT), both special directors, repatriated to their respective cadres, while Manoj Yadava (IPS:1988:HY) moved to National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as DG (Investigation).
The order for the premature repatriation of Ranjan came Monday, while Lal and Yadava were posted out of the IB last week. Lal is now DGP, Puducherry while Ranjan is awaiting posting order in his cadre. Anish Dayal Singh (IPS:1989:MN), Deka’s junior, is still working in IB as Special Director.
In terms of rank, IB Chief Deka is below Manoj Yadava, Manoj Kumar Lal, and Amitabh Ranjan but that’s not considered the sole criteria for the top job. Deka also worked as Special Director in IB.
Following the appointment of Deka as IB Director, these officers had sought “respectful rehabilitation” in other police organizations and the aforesaid exits explain the affairs well.
