Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that Indian
Economic Service (IES) cadre may be sanctioned 24 additional posts in the rank
of Additional Secretary (HAG) & Joint Secretary (SAG). The Indian Economic
Service cadre is undergoing its ‘Fifth Cadre Restructuring’ which is expected
to win 17 new posts of in the rank of Additional Secretary and 07 new posts in
Joint Secretary rank. Currently, as per fourth cadre review cleared in 2011,
IES cadre has a total sanctioned strength of 518 which include 05 Apex-level
posts, 15 HAG-level posts (Additional Secretary rank) and 89 SAG-level posts
(Joint Secretary). If everything goes well in favour of the cadre it may touch
08, 32 and 96 mark in Apex, HAG and SAG level respectively. As far as Director level (JAG) posts are concerned
the fifth cadre restructuring appears to have a retrospective outlook as well. As
against the existing strength of 148 post in Director-level the cadre may lose 16
posts; meaning hereby IES will have 132 Director-level posts as against the
present strength of 148.
