Lucknow (04.10.2023): Amid speculation that he may
join politics after a grand event of Ganeshotsav in Jaunpur, Abhishek Singh (IAS:
2011: UP), who was under suspension from February 2023, has resigned. Singh grabbed
the limelight after being removed from Gujarat election duty for posting about
his new assignment on social media in November 2022. After being taken off the Gujarat election duty,
Abhishek Singh said that he accepted the Election Commission's decision with
'all humility'. In a tweet, Singh had clarified, "Though I believe
there's nothing wrong in this post. A public servant, in a car bought by
public's money, reporting for public duty, with public officials, communicating
it to the public. It is neither publicity nor a stunt." Singh ventured into the entertainment industry and
acted in several films. His work in Netflix's acclaimed series "Delhi
Crime" earned him recognition. He was also seen in short film, Chaar
Pandrah and has also featured in B Praak’s song Dil Tod Ke.
But the recent Ganeshotsav programme in Jaunpur has brought him into news yet
again in which some film stars from Mumbai also participated. This is what is
being seen as a run-up to his preparation to contest the Lok Sabha elections
2024. His wife’s, Durga
Shakti Nagpal (IAS: 2010: UP), stand-off had become headline when she took
action against Samajwadi Party leader and she was subsequently suspended also. She
is the District Magistrate (DM) of Banda district at present.
