The UP government considered this act as a violation of Rule 3 of the All India Services Conduct Rules 1968, suspended him with immediate effect and attached him to the Revenue Council. The state government had sent the list of observers to the Election Commission for the Gujarat assembly elections, in which his name was included. He also took up the job of an observer, but he came into the limelight for being photographed in front of a car and was removed from observer duty on November 18, 2022 by the Election Commission for not behaving properly.

Singh was on deputation to the Delhi government from 2015 for 3 years. In 2018, the period of deputation was extended for 2 years. He was sent back to his original cadre by the Delhi Government on March 19, 2020. But, he did not join UP for a long time. Meanwhile, on June 30, 2022, he joined his cadre.
