New Delhi (08. 04. 2023): The Tamil Nadu government ordered P Amudha (IAS: 1994: TN), principal secretary of rural development department, to conduct an investigation into the alleged custodial torture case in Tirunelveli district in which Balveer Singh (IPS: 2020: TN) has been suspended. Earlier, over a dozen men had alleged that Singh, an assistant superintendent of police in Ambasamudram police station, had pulled out their teeth among other claims of torture. Two men had alleged that Singh hit them on genitals and a family had said that two minors, aged 17 and 16, were also taken into custody and beaten up.
