New Delhi (17.05.2025): Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a new Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) at the North Block which is country's foremost intelligence fusion centre.
Housed with Intelligence Bureau (IB), the new MAC has connected all the intelligence, security, law enforcement and investigative agencies. This new facility is expected to enhance real-time intelligence sharing and improve inter-agency synergy in addressing internal and external threats. Executed at a cost of over Rs 500 crore, the new MAC network has undergone both qualitative and quantitative transformation. The new MAC network spanning the length and breadth of the country, has weaved-in country’s Island territories, insurgency affected areas and mountainous high-altitude terrain ensuring last mile connectivity down to the level of district SP’s in the remotest areas with a fast and standalone secure network.
MHA sources said that MAC is embedded with artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to access the inflow of huge database with the centre and Geographic Information System (GIS) services.
The MAC had established connectivity between the national capital, 25 central member agencies and all state capitals. In the state capitals, this network links the state MAC, State Police Special Branch and offices of all Central and other counter-terror agencies. Now this network has been extended to district headquarters which is selected in consultation with state police chiefs.
"This new MAC network spanning across the country has connected the country's island territories, insurgency affected areas and mountainous high altitude terrain ensuring connectivity up to the level of district SPs in the remotest areas, MHA said.
