Yogesh Gupta (IPS:1993:KL), special director of Enforcement Directorate (eastern region), has been given responsibilities of the additional secretary-level post in addition to his present responsibilities. A trained and certified chartered accountant and a cost and management accountant, Gupta was in charge of bank securities and fraud cell of Mumbai CBI in his earlier avatar where he handled cases like Harshad Mehta security fraud, Ketan Parekh stock scam, home trade securities case, SBI gold scam, Airport Authority recruitment scam and Gujarat riot cases. He will also officiate as the administrator of properties controlled by ED. He is a 1993 batch Kerala cadre IPS officer and was promoted to the rank of additional director general of police from his current post equivalent to an inspector general. Gupta continues to hold charge of the special director of ED as the promotion was in-situ.
