New Delhi (23.03.2026):The government is likely to introduce amendments in the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (106th Constitutional Amendment Act) to make it applicable with immediate effect which mandates a 33 per cent (one-third) reservation for women in the Lok Sabha, state legislative assemblies, and the Delhi Assembly. The quota will now be implemented even before the new delimitation exercise (redrawing of constituency boundaries) is completed. As per the current Act, it would be implemented in 2029. So, the change is being made.
