New Delhi (07.06.2022): Buckling under international pressure, the BJP has taken action against its spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her comment on a religious figure. The outrage spilled over to the Gulf countries as well forcing the ruling party to suspend her. However, the government slammed the OIC comment on the same issue. But the government is certainly concerned about the security of Indians abroad and even protecting its exports to these countries as malls in Saudi Arabia and a few other countries put curtains on Indian goods. There was a diplomatic embarrassment for the government besides some internal disagreements in the BJP leadership prompting such a decision. Demarche is being issued against India by various Gulf countries.
