Two days ahead of the retirement of Amar Sinha (IFS:1982), the outgoing Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs, the NaMo administration has cleared the appointment of Vijay Keshav Gokhale (IFS:1981) as his successor. He will take over the charge from Amar Sinha on 30th June.
Gokhale is at present India's envoy to China. He had succeeded Ashok Kantha on January 2016. He was the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia from January 2010 to October 2013. From October 2013 to January 2016, Gokhale was the Ambassador of India to Germany.
