New Delhi (11.01.2022): There is a twist in the tale about West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s proposal to forge an alliance with the Congress in Goa polls. There was speculation that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will discuss the alliance issue on Tuesday. But the Congress general secretary KC Venugopal cleared the air through his tweet. “The rumour in circulation that a possible alliance with TMC was discussed by Rahul Gandhi in a meeting is completely baseless and untrue. Let me assure that the Congress party is confident – we will put Goa back on the path to progress soon,” said KC Venugopal, thus putting at rest the issue of alliance with the TMC. Mamata Banerjee had recently rebuked the Congress and said: “What UPA? There is no UPA now. We want a strong alternative.” On her outburst, she has got a reply from Congress now.
