Jaipur (03.02.2022): The Ashok Gehlot administration of Rajasthan has turned extremely benevolent towards its retired top officers. And this way, he has created a strong team of loyal and efficient officers to retain his grip over the administration in the face of intra-party challenges posed most openly by Sachin Pilot.

While four former chief secretaries of the state government have been doled out the most coveted benefits, over a dozen of IAS and IPS officers too have been favored with post-retirement appointments.

Three power couples out of these officers have got plump postings. Niranjan Arya (IAS: 1989: RJ) has got the new assignment of advisor to the chief minister after retiring as Chief Secretary while his wife Sangeeta Arya is already a member of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission.

The newly appointed Chief Secretary Usha Sharma’s (IAS: 1985: RJ) husband BN Sharma (IAS: 1985: RJ) was an IAS officer and is now chairman of Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Another power couple D B Gupta (IAS: 1983: RJ), former CS, was appointed Chief Information Commissioner post-retirement while his wife Veenu Gupta (IAS: 1985: RJ) was made the Chairperson of Rajasthan Pollution Control Board.

Earlier, Rajiv Swarup (IAS: 1985: RJ) was appointed as the Chairman of Paryawaran Samadhan Nirdharan Pradhikaran, N C Goyal (IAS: 1985: RJ) as RERA chairman. Prem Singh Mehra (IAS: 1987: RJ) was appointed Chief Election Commissioner, Rajasthan.

Similarly, Govind Sharma (IAS: 1984: RJ) was appointed Advisor to the Chief Minister; G S Sandhu (IAS: 1984: RJ) as Advisor to UDH; Arvind Mayaram (IAS: 1978: RJ) as Economic Advisor to the CM; Shailendra K Agrawal (IAS: 1984: RJ), as a RERA member; Alok Tripathi (IPS: 1986: RJ) as the Vice-Chancellor of Sardar Patel Police University, Jodhpur; and Hari Prashad Sharma(IPS: 1958: RJ) as the Chairman of the Staff Selection Board.
