New Delhi (20.09.2024): Former Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Gautam Kaul died on September 18, 2024 after a prolonged illness. He was 83. A retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Kaul served as the ITBP DG from 1998 to 2001.Kaul was also a noted Film Critic and was a veteran of the film society movement in India, co-founder of the Lucknow Film Society, and former president of the Federation of Film Societies of India. He has served on several film juries, including that of IFFI and the National Film Awards. His book Cinema and the Indian Freedom Struggle was a home reading recommendation in FTII. Kaul had won National Film Award and wrote columns for various newspaper and magazine.
