He has sought explanation from officials about those who did not come to office on time on Mondayafter a surprise check of attendance whereby he found some officials were not present in the office on time. The Minister directed Joint Secretaries concerned to review issues related to punctuality as well as cleanliness in the office on a daily basis. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was present during the inspection. Maneka trolls the trolls On Friday, WCD minister Maneka Gandhi held a meeting with Twitter India staff to work out a mechanism to crack down on people trolling women. Scotching rumors of her planning to enforce censorship, she clarified that her objective is to initiate action against abusive behaviour, harassment, and hateful content. "The freedom to write whatever you please on Internet will not be compromised," she tweeted. Unusual guests at President's House President Pranab Mukherjee has been entertaining unusual guests by having launched the 'In-Residence' programme at Rashtrapati Bhavan on his birthday on December 11, 2013. Artist Jogen Chowdhury, Gujarati poet Dhwanil Parekh, innovators Mushtaq Ahmed Dar and Swapnil Talukdar have already been entertained by him under this programme. The latest guest invited to stay at Rashtrapati Bhawan is author Amitav Ghosh, whose new book on climate change is just out. Ghosh will stay at the President's house from July 10 to 14, accompanied by wife Deborah Baker. Flood of opportunities for MPs New opportunities have arisen for a number of MPs to head prestigious committees. Many Parliamentary committees have become headless following the recent Cabinet reshuffles. Darjeeling MP S S Ahluwalia, who has been appointed Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, was earlier heading the joint committee of Parliament on land acquisition Bill and the privileges committee of Lok Sabha. New MoS Law and Justice P P Chaudhary was heading the committee on the office of profit while Rajan Gohain, now MoS Railways, was chairman of the committee on welfare of OBCs and a sub-committee on railways in the PAC. Faggan Singh Kulaste used to head the committee on the welfare of SCs/STs, while Arjun Ram Meghwal was chairman of the House Committee. All these posts have now fallen vacant because ministers cannot head these committees
