The suspense is finally over which revolved around the speculations whether an IPS officer would get RPF top post or would it go to RPF cadre. The Appointment Committee of Cabinet cleared the appointment of Surendra Kumar Bhagat (IPS:1982:UD) as Director General of Railway Protection Force. The post was given to a RPF cadre officer after R R Verma (IPS:1978:BH) superannuated on February 29. Indianmandarins had reported earlier that panel comprising two names (S K Bhagat and Ms Meeran C Borwankar) was waiting PMO's clearance. It also had reported that Labour Unions had made objections against giving the top post to IPS officers.
