The officer was first appointed as deputy secretary of the state’s panchayat and rural development department on January 3, 2026 in the immediate aftermath of deaths by water contamination in Indore’s Bhagirathpura. A day before, Yadav had been served a show cause notice over the deaths.

Reportedly Yadav’s new posting was part of a major administrative reshuffle announced by the Madhya Pradesh government on the evening of January 19, in which 26 Indian Administrative Service officers from batches ranging between 1994 and 2018 were shuffled.
