Bodhgaya has suddenly gained imminence as top officials from different ministries and Central PSUs took flight to this city to attend a workshop being organised there by Department of Public Enterprises (DPE). Flights to Bodhgaya had hundred per cent occupancy on Sunday. DPE is holding the MoU Workshop at Mahabodhi Hotel in Bodhgaya which is being attended by various Central PSUs and Ministries. Initially it was assumed that 60 participants would join the workshop but the DPE was enthused due to confirmation from participants from top PSU executives and senior ministry officials and finally, the tally rose to around 120 participants. Initially, the organisers at DPE were worried to find only 60 participants. They wondered when the number rose to 120. Bodhgaya is neither a commercial air route nor does it attract top corporate executives. It is a cultural hotbed in Bihar and destination for Budhists, being the place of Nirvana for Lord Budha. Having committed to executing the Prime Minister's directions, given during his address at the CPSE Conclave on April 9 this year at Vigyan Bhawan, Bodhgaya was picked for this workshop. PM had given a number of action points for CPSEs including the suggestion to hold Annual General/Board meetings of CPSEs at new tourist destinations instead of well-known and commercially well-off and established destinations. Such a step would help to boost the tourism sector of the country. Reportedly, Union Tourism Ministry too has suggested many such tourist centres to DPE; namely Aurangabad (Ajanta, Ellora), Khajuraho and Bodhgaya. Bodhgaya, considered a non-commercial air route, on Sunday witnessed 100 per cent occupancy and caused scarcity of seats to prospective air travelers. The very first move to hold a workshop in Bodhgaya has gained huge significance as desired by the PM to encourage Board meetings at lesser known places of great importance.
